Talented young
performing artists and residents of Illinois' Tenth Congressional
District gathered in early December to record a holiday compact
disc to be sent tour troops overseas. Inspired by Congressman Mark
Kirk, an active duty Naval Reserve Lt. Commander, students from
Adlai E. Stevenson High School, choir members of First Corinthian
Missionary Baptist Church of North Chicago and musicians from Midwest
Young Artists came together to record holiday songs for the CD entitled,
"Voices from Home." Joining Congressman Kirk and the performing
artists in bringing holiday wishes and words of encouragement were
Medal of Honor recipient Al Lynch and Capt. Jim Lovell, Apollo 8
commander. Over 200 copies of the CD were sent to Iraq and Afghanistan
during the holiday season. |
