Kirk honors 10 citizens

U.S. Rep. Mark Kirk (R-Highland Park) hosted a ceremony Tuesday
honoring 10 individuals with his first annual "Ten for the
Tenth" awards.
These 10 special Americans were awarded a congressional certificate
of recognition, honoring them for their leadership and community
service which exemplifies the best of the 10th Congressional District
of Illinois.
Those honored were: Joyce O'Keefe (Highland Park) - Protecting
Lake Michigan; Captain James Lovell, Jr. (Lake Forest) - Supporting
our troops; Jim Spriggs (North Chicago) - Preventing Youth Violence;
Sadiqa Queen (North Chicago) - Rescuing At-Risk Youth; Petty Officer
Alan Dementer (Great Lakes) - Navy Sailors Provide Flood Relief;
Johnnie Allen (North Chicago) - Saving the North Chicago VA Hospital;
Pastor John I. Caples (Waukegan) - Keeping the Faith; David Kuriniec
(Deerfield) - Youth Advocate for the Disabled; Kate Patton (Rolling
Meadows) - Protecting Kids from Club Drugs; Barry Bradford (Stevenson
High School) - Inspiring Young Minds
