Congressman says he deliver Christmas cards to Iraq
VERNON HILLS, Ill. Mark Kirk says he'll gladly serve as postman
for the holidays.
The U-S Representative from Illinois is heading to Iraq with other
members of Congress later this month, and he says he'll be happy
to deliver holiday letters to Illinois troops there.
A statement from his office said it's already too late for mail
sent by regular routes to make it to Iraq in time for Christmas.
The Highland Park Republican says he wants to give families and
friends another chance to ensure their holiday correspondence reaches
the soldiers.
Kirk's office says letters must be properly addressed and include
the correct postage. They should be dropped off at Kirk's office
in Deerfield by December Ninth.
Kirk and the other legislators traveling to Iraq will assess progress
being made toward holding elections next month.
