Holiday Letters Hand Delivered To Iraq
This time of year your mailbox may be filling up with holiday mail.
Imagine though if you were thousands of miles away, getting that
mail be not be so easy. Rep. Mark Kirk (R-Ill.) is headed to Iraq
to hand deliver holiday letters to Illinois service men and women.
He's going there with other members of congress to evaluate the
progress being made toward the January Iraqi elections.
As a reservist himself, he wanted to make sure military families
and friends could get another chance to get holiday cards to their
loved ones.
"Nothing is more important than getting the right letter
from home on the key day, and that everybody knows that what they're
doing is very important," Kirk said.
You can send a letter to a solider in Iraq that will be hand
delivered by Kirk. The deadline is Dec. 9.
Congressman Kirk asks that only cards and letters be delivered
to his office. Due to space limitations on the military aircraft,
he will not be able to carry packages. All cards or letters must
be received in his Deerfield office:
