One of the most time consuming administrative duties in a hospital is that of admissions. The admissions process is labor intensive, prone for errors and operates as a major cost center. HMI has developed technology that provides a distributive “Work Load Function” that is designed to operate within a closed community between the hospital, individual physician offices and patients. The Admissions System greatly reduces the patient registration process and connects the physician office and the hospital without the need for any paperwork.

eNvision Rapid Registration with Smart Cards

Rapid Registration is the base product offered by HealthMeans. Rapid Registration improves the registration process by allowing patients to receive smart cards from an initial source (Hospital, Physician or HealthPlan) that includes specific demographic, insurance, health summary and orders information. The information is then portable in a private and secure manner to any point of entry into a healthcare provider facility within the HMI network. The base product includes our standard application consisting of three (3) basic forms: Demographics, Registration and Health Summary. These forms provide the majority of all data elements standard to any facility and should not be modified without additional charges to the customer. The Health Summary Form is based on AHIMA standards which is also the basis for CCR. Additionally, three (3) provider Order Forms are included in our base offering price. Additional order forms will result in additional charges on a form-by-form basis. In a simple analysis, the purpose is to move patients through the registration process from point A to point B without the need for paperwork. The only hardware requirement for the Rapid Registration base product is a smart card read/ write device at point A and a reader at point B. A server may be required on-site depending on an evaluation of the customers’ network, firewall, etc. However, the system is web-based and offered in an ASP environment.

eNvision Pre-Admissions

The eNvision Pre-Admission software is the notification system for admission and registration personnel. At the time the patient is issued the smart card, the eNvision software sends a message to a central data base that allows facility registration and admission personnel access to selected information in advance of the patients’ actual physical registration at the facility. Information including Admitting Orders, demographics, and insurance information is accessed by the facility through a queuing screen located in the facility registration and admission department and can be used in conjunction with the scheduling system at the hospital. The facility is not sent patient health summary information, this is maintained on the smart card.

eNvision Kiosk Smart Check-In

The Automated Patient Check-In software is associated with a self-service device such as a Kiosk or tablet PC. This solution can be an enhancement to the base registration system or can be implemented on a stand-alone basis. Smart Check-in is sold in conjunction with a Kiosk that can be initiated by either a smart card, driver’s license or manually. Demographic information as well as a check-in questionnaire customized by the facility, is captured, reviewed and edited at the Kiosk by the patient and then transported to the registration application where the registration process is completed. Once a patient completes their check-in at the Kiosk, the queuing system is updated to notify registration of the patient’s arrival. The standard Smart Check-in application includes specific reporting capabilities.

eNvision Electronic Consent

eNvision Electronic Consent software is an enhancement that allows the provider to publish an electronic consent form on a computer screen or monitor for a patient to read and then captures the patients’ signature via an electronic signature pad. This feature requires the addition of signature pads as a part of the hardware implementation. Presentation of the form to the patient is improved with the addition of flat panel monitors that can be turned on and off with the touch of a button on the back of the monitor. The monitors are not required, but greatly improve the efficiency and ease of use. The Electronic Consent module is implemented at the facility with up to three (3) custom forms included as a part of the base module. Additional forms may be added for a charge per form based on the level of customization required for each.

eNvision Patient Web-Portal

HMI’s web portal solution allows for the remote access by a patient to their demographic, insurance and health summary data base in advance of a visit to a healthcare facility and can be used to capture relevant patient information for registration and admission purposes. This data can then be captured on a smart card before the patient arrives to the facility. This feature can be utilized to meet a number of facility needs but should be focused on building the patient data base for the purpose of registration and smart card creation. Patients are instructed to log on to the facility web site which is automatically linked to the HealthMeans portal.

eNvision Scanning

The scanning software serves as an enhancement to the Registration system and allows for the scanning of simple documents such as a drivers license or insurance card at the point of registration and is not intended to replace a facility imaging and storage system. The intended use is to install a small scanner, such as a Visigo A6, at the point of registration to perform the scan of these small items as presented by the patient. If the facility requires the image to be transported to their HIS system from the registration data base, this is a custom enhancement.

eNvision Imaging

The Imaging software also serves as an enhancement to the eNvision Registration software and allows for capturing of a patients picture on the smart card for identification purposes. HealthMeans, as with the imaging module, must pre-approve the camera equipment that is to be used by the facility. In addition, as with scanning, there will be an additional interface charge if the facility requires the picture to be transported to their HIS system from the registration data base.
